EMILY HORTON

About Me
I’ve had almost seven years of experience in the entertainment industry working in creative production, development, and marketing roles across studios, channels, agencies, and streamers. I admire how the characters, stories, and worlds created in animated content are limited only by imagination; they can seamlessly transport audiences and allow for the whimsical exploration of different cultures, beings, and universal human truths. I entered schooling knowing I didn’t want my day-to-day life to consist of pre-conceived answers and unoriginality— pushing me toward my expressive Creative Writing major and my inventive Cinematic Arts and Marketing minors. During my time at USC, I worked with artists and storytellers across multiple mediums, including screenwriting, poetry, cinematic visuals, nonfiction writing, score, and song lyrics. I’ve always been passionate about the art of animation in particular and love the marriage between creativity and business structure that production provides.
My goal is to support artists and storytellers in creating whimsical forms of artistic escapism, inspiration for the next generation, and representation of diversity both on-screen and behind the scenes. My recent project, Orion and the Dark, blueprinted a new, vendor-based feature pipeline. Prior to that, my roles were on visually stunning series including Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, Dragons: The Nine Realms, and Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous. I hope to grow into a creative producer who helps oversee projects from start to finish, and I believe that my experiences with storytelling through both production and post-production will be invaluable assets while aiming to gain a holistic understanding of the animation production pipeline.
